This season will be the year of celebration, sparkles, and feathers! Yes, that’s right, plush feathers are splashed over dresses, coats, and accessories.The memo was clear on the catwalks. Designers for autumn created plump amazing craftwork embellishments that added a glamour ingredient to the fabrics.
Uber-feminine was the theme at JW Anderson while an “overwhelming” sense of old Hollywood glitz was emphasized at Balenciaga. At Raf Simon’s Calvin Klein, the meaning was modernized as feathers were affixed on cocktail dresses or slipped under see-through plastic covers. Miu Miu and Prada also showed explosive feather decorated creations.
Feathers quickly flocked the red carpet too. Feather devotees include Julianne Moore in Calvin Klein and Uma Thurman sporting a seams extravaganza number. Feathers don’t have to be overwhelming, conversely, you can aim for subtlety.
Don’t go for a costume-like number unless that’s your thing, of course, opt for an item like a coat, skirt, or dress with just a few feather details. Or go all out! It’s about having fun at the end of the day.
